PICARD at Fashion Week Berlin 2022
This spring we were in Berlin for the Fashion Week again. From 14th to 18th March 2022, fashion fever once again lured many fashionistas to the capital. But this year's Berlin Fashion Week was an emotional tightrope walk and full of moments that demonstrated what a privilege it is to be able to celebrate the beautiful and creative.
Of course, the question arose in the run-up: can an event like Fashion Week even take place in these times? "Yes, it can - especially in these times. Because here we are all setting a sign of solidarity, compassion, cooperation, help and freedom," were the words of Berlin's Governing Mayor Franziska Giffey in her opening speech right at the beginning of Fashion Week. And it was precisely this that became tangible in Berlin.
At the first fashion show for press and influencers, the autumn/winter collection for 2022/2023 was presented. For four days, our PICARD models were able to breathe the Berlin air at the Hotel Adlon Kempinski. We provided models from our brand new autumn/winter collection for the show by fair fashion designer Anja Gockel. Optimistically sparkling colours, patterns and dignified shapes await you. Look forward to models made of LEFA (leather fibre), recycled polyester and high-quality leather. More will be revealed later.
In keeping with the theme of "Weltgewand(t)", the show also featured hearty basics made of high-quality leather and a classic, pure design. The sporty, elegant models include unisex backpacks, bags, weekenders and unisex crossbody bags.
With her collection motto "Weltgewand(t)", Anja Gockel dares to create a utopia - a world in peace and freedom - a plea for understanding and diversity of people and their distinctive cultures. Under her "Weltgewand(t)" there is room for all who want to live peacefully side by side. For Anja Gockel, this means the true richness of our world.
Just before rehearsals began on Sunday, Anja Gockel heard about the Ukrainian dancer Nataliia Ovcharova, who had just fled from Kiev, and spontaneously hired her. She wore the final outfit, which was designed in the colours of the Ukrainian flag. Anja Gockel also makes a personal statement: she constantly wears our PICARD bracelet in Ukraine colours. According to her own words, she only wants to take it off when the war is over.
We, the #picardfamily, are leaving the donation account open - the war is not over. We invite everyone to continue to make donations to the account we have set up. Every donation counts and can make a big difference.
