Fair Friday instead of Black Friday - PICARD donates to Bangladesh
The leather goods manufacturer will donate 20 per cent of the turnover generated in the online shop between 26 and 29 November 2021 to the Subarna Bhumi Foundation (SBF) in Bangladesh. The reason: fair and humane working conditions in production have their price.
PICARD would also like to generate additional donations for the Advent season. For this purpose, a bookmark will be available for purchase in the online shop for five euros, 50% of the proceeds of which will go to the same donation organisation. The bookmarks are lovingly handmade in Germany and are made from 100% leather scraps - another contribution to sustainability. In addition, PICARD is planning competitions on social media, with one euro being donated for each entry.
The SBF organisation is particularly close to PICARD's heart, as the leather goods manufacturer opened a factory in Bangladesh in the 1990s and has maintained close ties with the local people ever since. The family business currently employs twelve people with disabilities in Bangladesh and is accessible to wheelchair users. In addition, adults can learn to read and write thanks to further education programmes. An integrated kindergarten is intended to create opportunities for women in particular to work. The health care of the employees is also ensured by a free company doctor.
The school founded by PICARD has so far enabled children to be educated up to grade 7 - in the future, the offer is to be expanded even further. The proceeds from the donation will be used to support girls and boys who have not yet had the chance to go to school. For PICARD, local support at all levels is a matter of the heart.
